gsr found
i had a gsr in a type R shell....aem intake, dc 4-2-1 header, greddy evo exaust. the car was stolen last thursday.
the car was found in perris, CA. and i went to the to brothers towing, the place is was at. the car was completly stripped. everything.the only thing in it were my cd's. they obviously didnt like any metal..ahaha but still the car had nothing in it just a frame. they didnt take the suspension or my 17" wheels which was really weird. I have full coverage insurance. Anyone know what my estimate is going to be? the vin says its a Type R which it is, but it just has a gsr motor in it because of its previos owner. The insurance doesnt know of this so i believe theyll list it as a 98 type R. 72000 miles, mint condit.
thanks for your help and time.

Are you going to tell the Ins Co you had a legit ITR incl drivetrain and all?
I really hope not... And if you ask why, Fruad would be the reason.
As for the dumb fvcks that stole your car,,, HAHAHA they thought they had a B18C5 motor and trans

a gsr vs a itr engine assembly/tranny from the dealer is probly the exact same price or the GSR is more. Like a GSR head costs more from the dealer then an ITR head does.

i wouldnt go as far as saying a gsr head > itr head in dealer costs/markups, but there are quite a few parts that swing that way. the other parts would be, comparable in price.
Frankly, I would be honest with the claims adjuster, and see if he really cares about it or not. Most of the time, with such a modified vehicle (many parts swapped over), it probably would be easier for them just to give you book value for the vehicle, or whatever street cost is.

Fight it out, should be able to get 14k or more. I got 13.5 for my '98 w/130k.
I wouldn't talk about motor swaps with the insurance co since that will probably raise some red flags.
Good luck.
