i said angles and what not, i never said anything about measurments....all i said about laziness was i would rather do it myself and learn something than have it already done and ready to be bolted on....y is it all the time u post something new that someone gets off topic, thanks for the help anyways very usefull
Marc,
Angles depend upon the completeness of the gutting. If it is truly gutted AND lightened, by lightened I mean all high weight removed such as inner panels in the A & B pillars, roof support panels, kick panels removed, door interior removed completely or partially, rear quarter inside panels removed, etc....the angles will be different than if you were just simply putting in a cage with the interior stripped out.
When I was doing my track car, I removed all unnecessary inner panels and hollowed all non-essential metal from the interior including A & B pillars. The bars are now inside the pillars and welded to the skin also. This makes for much more space inside for doorbars, etc, my previous car had the cage base inside the rockers, and the door bars followed the contour of a non-gutted door, which made a tight fit inside. Note: my left elbow was constantly hitting the padding on the door bars. Now, it is like comparing a family room to a bathroom.
It also depends upon the sanctioning body for the form of racing you are planning to do.

One can also use in determining the angles for cages, a folding wooden carpenters rule.
Pretty simple.
I used to do that, but after doing three cages.....all crx's, just small differences between generations.

Thats a very good idea! I might have to try this myself.
