Default my car grounded out.

i have a generic intake tube 3" w/ k&n,and a generic tower bar. well the intake tube touched the possitive terminal on battery, and the tube was also in contact with the strut brace, than the car shut off with plenty of smoke coming out of the engine bay. the negative cable burnt up real bad. my question is should i replace the battery fuse. has this ever happened to u, and what needed to be replaced.
thanx in advance.

My guess would be either Main Fuse in engine compartment on passenger side shock tower or in interior fuse panel.

this happened to me also, change all blown fuses.. replace both battery cables and switch your battery around.. (ground side towards intake) and get those rubber boots that cover the terminals

How about get rid of the intake?
You shouldn't have to risk a car fire for a $30 ebay part right?
That or if you have to have it, then wrap it with rubber or some non-conductive material.

There was a time when my intake was really close to the positive terminal of the battery. To prevent a fire i wrapped the intake with 5 layers of 10 mil tape. Eventually the positive terminal rubbed through a couple layers of the tape, so I decided it was time to relocate the battery.

if you relocate the battery...to prevent grounding out again use a rubber grommet where the pos. cable penetrates the firewall and install a fuse or circuit breaker close to the battery.

check for blown fuses in all the fuse holders and make sure nothing is burnt apart that will cause another short. Get rid of that intake that .5 a horse isn't worth burning your nice honda up.

i fixed the prob. it was the battery that got killed by the short and not my fuses. i bought a replacement with the post on the right side of the battery twords the dizzy side. i have like a 3" clearance from the intake. all i need is a new tie down kit for it cuz the otherone is for the other batt. thanx for all the replies.
