Welding a cracked rim

I have a rim that i hit a pothole with and it bent the lip and it cracked right where its bent. Is it safe to have it welded up and do you think it will crack again?

Drill a small hole at the absolute end of the crack, then have an experience welder go at it... should hold fine if done well.

someone recent did this. i cant find the thread tho.
but he welded it and posted pictures too. i dont' know if it's still holding up
