I want to do an swap on my civic 89 im thinking on a B16 DOHC VTEC or B18Ci DOHC VTEC but my question is do I have to replace the ECU or can I use the same that came in the civic if do which ECU should I get and will the trans from my car fit in the B16. thanks in advance

you need a lot more than you think

 

do some research before asking something that vague. You have got a lot of learning man. ef-honda.com has some good writeups of the basics, but there are tons of info on the internet, leave your girlfriend at home one night and just sit your *** on the computer and read about the swap all night.

 

No your stock D-series tranny won't work. And no your stock ECU won't work. You will need to find a way to mount the engine (custom or aftermarket mounts), plus you'll need to do some wiring (more if your car is a DX), and you'll need a set of matching axles and intermediate shaft from a 90-93 teg.
