quick ecu ?
i live in il. i herd the emmisions testing here are kinda strict but nothing like ca. i have a 99 civic ex coupe along with a 99 usdm gsr swap. the wiring harness is also the same from the 99 ex. the 99 ex is obd2b. i am running a 99 si ecu and need a 99 usdm gsr one. i was wondering if since the 99 gsr ecu is obd2a, will i be able to pass? not including the other problems that i might have..just the ecu and year or car/motor part. let me know. thanks

I have no idea... but a bump for you.

Will they fail you just because the ECU doesnt match the engine? If not I dont see what the problem is. Do the emissions test with the SI ecu (which is running lean for that motor and not controlling the IAB just FYI) then grab an OBD1 P72for the GSR and OBD2B to OBD1 conversion harness and run that the rest of the year (and in the process you'll gain alot more tuning capabilities if you wish to use them).
You could also use a P28 if you wanted to add the circuitry to control the IAB and chip it.
Or you could change the intake manifold if you dont want to use the IABs at all and just run a chipped P28 with the conversion harness.
Ofcourse you could also get an OBD2A GSR ecu and use the OBD2B to OBD2A harness.
The possibilities are endless.
What specifically do you want from it? Give us some more details and we can help you find a solution that will suit you best.
As far as I know all OBD2B GSR ecus have the immobilizer but dont quote me on that one.

Actually, I was told that the immobilizer was a 2000 model year addition, and that the 99 GSR ecu/ did not have it. Anyone know for sure?

wow thumbs down to 96accordlxf22b2 for the pointless comment...newayyys, i just want to be able to pass emissions, and not run the si ecu anymore. for one thing, i kno here in il we dont check for the year of the motor. i think i gotta stay obd2? for when i go in for testing. dont the older model gsr's have the fuel tank pressure sensor? which will throw a code? and i kno the 00+ gsrs have the immobilizer. i just need the proper ecu at the moment. i dont need anything to tune with and mess around with.
