time for a new jacket
my bike is almost done, my Arai helmet is on the way ... and my jacket is shredded to pieces (thanks to the paramedics, but they were just doin their job, no hard feelings).
So i'm looking for a jacket, $350 is probably around my limit, and i should be able to get a good deal on one through a friend .. meaning it might be able to be a little more then that.
My requirements are the usual armor, and it must have a compartment for a back protector. It doesn't have to come with a back protector, just a place for one. It would be nice if it had a zipper to turn it into a 2 piece suit, but it is not required.
So far i've been looking into the A* Stage jacket and i like that ... but looking for some other opinions that i can further check out.
If you have any suggestions, let me know!
Thanks guys
Also, it would be nice if the colors looked decent with my helmet

for a couple hundred more bucks you can get a full suit which will be a better option imo. than pieceing things together over time.
edit. actually, how about something like this

1 suit wont be the best idea for me, as my bike will be my primary transportation, and i'll be taking it to work and school.
Nice looking jacket in that link, i'll look into a little more.
I'll check out the SMX as well

Ya, definatly gonna be looking into it.
I still have to register the bike in my name
Got in the wreck before i had a chance to, and after the wreck there were obviously more important things to do.
And i'm not lookin for a blingy jacket to look tight y0, i'm just looking for a quality jacket for a good price. Of course i want it to look good, but thats not my main concern.
Good advice though

On-topic, the ICON Pursuit jacket is pretty nice. I don't know how cold it gets up by you, but the Pursuit (fully perf'd) jacket is awesome for when it gets hot, but you still want to wear leather.
I have one, but I hardly wear it...I wear my JR Alter Ego all the freaking time.

back from the dead a little .. my mom was worried about me not having a jacket, and i said it was fine and i was gonna get one in a month or two, since i'm not riding much and mainly just go school (cause i get GOOD parking).
she said she'd buy me a jacket, i said they were expensive and i could handle it. she asked how much, i said $500+, and she said to just pick it out and she'd get it. of course i'm gonna pay for most of it cause i wasn't lookin to mooch off her, but anyways ... i'm still lookin for a jacket!
i'm looking at the A* SMX Air Flo right now, it's like $620, which i can get for about $150 off. Not sure what else to look for. Any suggestions? I'm kinda worried about the A* cause it says it's a summer jacket ... but at the same time i guess thats when i'd do most my riding.
lets try to keep this somewhat on topic

I'll sell you my Joe Rocket Alter Ego.
Its in mint condition - a large.
I just bought the Shift 2-piece suit that was linked above. Got it for $322 shipped including tax. Its a 2 piece so you can wear just the jacket or pants or both.
If you're interested, PM me.

That Shift 2piece is an AWESOME deal. If you fit off-the-rack sizes, then jump on this.
If you want just a jacket, have you tried checking New Enough's website? They have some inexpensive ones in the Closeout section.
Terra Powersports usually has great prices, too, for online retail. eBay prices are tough to beat for ANY one.
The A* jacket you listed is pretty sweet. Don't you have leather pants already?

Spidi Basic Black

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by CycleWorld »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">There's no denying the Spidi Basic Black leather jacket is black, but basic? Not a chance.
Beautifully constructed with great attention to detail, the fully lined Basic Black is made from water-resistant, 1.1mm-thick top-grain Italian leather. Removable, CE-certified "biomechanical" armor—designed in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists, and identical to that used in the company's one- and two-piece road-racing suits—is fitted at the elbows and shoulders; Spidi's multiple-layer Warrior back protector is a $55 option.
Still not sold? Wait, there's more: shoulder stretch panels, "texturized" inner sleeves, zippered back vents, hand-warmer and four interior pockets, hidden waist adjustment, a reflective "reflex" zone and a zip-out, fully sleeved liner for cooler days. There's even a snap-down nylon strip that hooks onto your back belt loop to eliminate fluttering at speed.
Fit is snug, particularly with the liner in place, though not uncomfortably so. As such, the Basic Black (available in men's European sizes 48-60) can be enjoyed on and off the bike, whether you're cruising Main Street in Daytona Beach or hob-nobbing at the theatre. Furthermore, classic looks-snap-down mandarin collar, hip length-guarantee applicability with nearly any type of street-bike, from cruisers to repli-racers to grand tourers.
Given all that, maybe a better name for this well-rounded jacket would be Anything But Basic Black...</TD></TR></TABLE>
Maybe your hook up will be able to get this for you. I ordered mine from a real friendly girl named Tori at http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com She gave it $10 off and free shipping. Plus it's outta state for me so no sales tax.
I paid $459 shipped. If you can get it for less, I hate you.
One of the only few jackets that look good on the bike as well as off it.
