Default Help on a EK civic swap!

I have a 96 civic hb cx with D16Y7 and iam swapping in a 00 civic ex motor which is a D16Y8. Iam have trouble on the wiring harness, when i pull out the stock motor the wire harness came with a green plug and 3 other to the ecu. but the 00 motor has only a green plug and 2 wires one. Which harness should i use the stock or the 00 one or should a buy a different one. Plz help i need to get the car run so i can go to work tomorrow.

Thank you

The 96-98 ecu plugs and harness is different than the 99-00 ecu and harness.

You need to get the ex harness and ecu from a 96-98 EX and you will be all set.

If you try to use the 99-00 ecu and engine harness, the motor will run but that green plug is for the interior electronics like fuel pump and speedo, ect. None of that will work correctly if you use the 99-00 stuff and you will have a check engine light and codes.

Just sell it to someone and get the 96-98 ecu and engine harness.

i did this swap last month....

You can use your cx wiring harness and add the new plugs you need. As for the ecu.. you will need the 96-98 one. You will also have a check engine light after swap. You need to add the fuel tank pressure sensor and a civic ex evap cannister, open shut valve.
