you CAN mig it but I really wouldnt.... The welds wont come out nearly as clean, tight spaces will be very hard to weld and its harder to weld stuff like stainless or aluminium

IMHO... If you have a decent MIG welder the manifold will be just as sound. Hell, I have even made suspension parts with MIG. Structurally it is fine. However you will never be able to get that sweet rainbow-colored stacked coin look with MIG.

I got a friend that MIGs his Nissan 300zx headers all the time, looks like total *** but it works, 636whp He uses mild steel. Just make sure you do a leak down test....although you should do that with TIG too.

I use sch10 stainless and various mild steels. Beveled edges, 2 passes, with 0.028" wire. 75/25 mix gas. I get a little higher crown with stainless, but after some practice I think my welds are looking decent.

Of course, my next leap may be to buy a TIG.

lolz, but MIG is fine. If you don't care about the bling bling look, the MIG will be perfectly fine.

tig is better, but ive seen a mig manifold personally handle 280+whp on a d-series and last a few years and still is on the car today.

I used an old 90amp 110v miller to do mine. Cranked up the voltage and the manifold has been holding(no braces) my holset turbo for a year so far and makes 270whp.

when you say 2 passes, do you mean you go over the seams with filler then braze over it?

I've miged a sch. 40 MS ram horn, turned out fine. The hardest part was using a 110V welder w/a 20% duty cycle ...a lot of down time.

Yes you can mig a manifold, will you get laid with putting down a mig weld.... aww probably not, girls love the color.

Then again ManBearPig4silly is pretty desperate these days
