K, I keep trying to sift through all this stuff on this website and I'm getting about 40 different answers from the FAQ pages.

I was going to do an integra front and rear brake swap in my civic but from what I'm reading, my '97 Ex 4-dr w/abs has the exact same rotors and calipers as an integra...If this is true, is there a point to swap the fronts then?

No, they are the same size. I say sell the fronts and kepe the cash.

 

Any big brake upgrades anyone can recommend then for someone running 16'' rims?

 

Yes, your calipers are the same as integra (thank you SO damn much for doing the research for that)

You could go to itr/accord wagon (2nd largest) or nsx/legend brakes (largest oem) if you redrilled rotors to 4x100

IF your 97 Civic EX is stock, it does NOT take the same calipers as any integra. You do however take the same rotor as a 90-01 Integra. If you use a 90-93 Integra caliper, that takes a slightly bigger pad and the piston in the caliper is bigger. If you bolt on a 94-01 Integra (not R) Caliper (to your civic, yes it bolts on over your stock rotor), then it too has a bigger piston and uses a even bigger pad than the DA (90-93) Integra.

So for integra brakes for you...you'd want to bolt on calipers from a Integra (DA or DC will work, they are not the same, and the DC calipers take a bigger pad.
For integra rear brakes...Any 88-00 Civic or 90-01 Integra has the same rear rotor and pad, the brakes are all the same stopping power (not 100% identical for every piece) but you want the spindle and all attached from a DA, DC, EG, EF or EK chassis.

If you want bigger brakes than that, talk to me.

 

does this apply to 92 civic ex-v with abs? it uses the integra 10.2" rotors

 

never heard of a EX-V, but if your a 92, and your car uses the 90-01 Integra 10.3" rotors, then you take the same brakes as other EX model civics from 92-00, so yes, it applies.

 

Um actually, the abs civic does have the same calipers as integras....

What is a Civic EX-a? And are you sure it was stock? Is that a US model? because the Civics don't use the 57mm sized piston that Integras do, in every instance Ive seen. Does that civic's caliper say 17CL14VN on it?

It doesnt seem right that a 5th gen civic, DX took small brakes, the EX took a 10.3" rotor with a bigger piston in its caliper, and this EX-a model got integra calipers...I mean its not "Honda" to do that.

Yes US model. Im fairly certain it was stock, since nothing else was modified on it at all.

Me measuring the piston was specifically for this reason. This was a while ago and memorizing the number stamped on it wasnt on my to do list.

Unless someone else wants to measure their abs coupe caliper piston Im sticking with my information.
