Default B16 OR B18B1 EG HATCH

I am starting with a blank canvas here? I plan on going turbo in the future but never running and crazy lbs? Which one would be better for the price to performance comparison? I am leaning towards an LS because I can go to any local junkyard here in Baltimore and find one but I have never seen a B16 in a yard. I would have to buy one from H motors or somewhere because I wouldnt know where else to find one? But at the same time, VTEC is appealing. What do you all think?

haha is that a question? I would go LS and boost it, they are pretty damn cheap. Plus if you decide to get adventurous later down the road you can do the LS/VTEC and then enjoy mad vtak.

LS+Boost is a good cheap plan tho.... compared to b16+boost.

My $.02.....

-set a HP goal
-then figure out what motor/turbo/etc you will need to accomplish your goals.

I'd suggest you get the b16 swap, and put in an LS block.
That way you get the shorter tranny, better flowing head, vtec ecu, and then have the larger displacing block when you change them out.
(I would probably piece them together seperatly so I could pick and choose.. but thats not exactly appropriate for your question)

but that's me..
This is probably the more appropriate answer:

If you are looking for a cheep one you might be able to find one in the classifieds section, perhaps even someone local which could save some shipping charges. GL

On stock internals what psi can each motor hold? Max RPM on each motor (chipped)? What is the max rpm each one can hold or is it all in where power is made?

even though its around 600 dollars difference between the two, when you are working on a tight budget its a lot of money
