Default help gas

i have a 98 4 cylinder and it eats gas alot. i changed the filter but it made on difference. what can it be?

What kinda mileage you getting? Automatic, manuel?

A clogged fuel filter will restrict fuel flow. That's not the problem.

Some of the many causes for excess fuel consumption can include....

Low tire pressure
Cold weather
Driving habits
Faulty thermostat causing the engine to run cold
Fouled spark plugs
Shot O2 sensor
...and any result of neglected maintenance such as brakes, ignition components, etc.

Also what have you done to the car? Sparkplugs, any engine or tire modifications...

did u take it to autozone for a free trouble code check? as well as all the other stuff Perfectionist stated...
