Default IDRC Pro Am Allmotor questions

Will be preparing a car for this class. I have a few questions regarding the rules of interior and exterior of the body.

Exterior- Factory glass must remain. No 1 peice frontends. What I need to know are fenders, hood, trunk, bumper covers allowed to be CF or fiberglass?

Interior- Factory dash and door panels are required. 2 seats up front required. Seats have to be factory or can any seats be used as long as 2 are present in the front?

I have a 4 door, so do I need all 4 door panels or just the 2 front panels?

As long as all these required peices are in place, everything else is game? removal of carpet, sound deadening, usless metal, etc?

EDIT: afterthought concerning weight reduction. I didnt see any weight restrictions in the Pro Am rules, are there any? Will I be safe sticking to the weight restrictions of Allmotor?

Thanks all.

I have seen alot of IDRC Allmotor rules q's, maybe we can make this the IDRC rules Q&A thread.

Just a thought.

Answers from IDRC-

Exterior – Yes you can have fiberglass trunk, hood, bumper and fenders.

Interior – Seats do not have to be factory or match, just as long as you have 2 front seats you are ok. And for the door panels since you have a 4 door you must have the door panels for all 4 doors.

As for the weights, there are no weights in the pro-am classes. As for cutting the car, please do not cut any of the floor out and tin it up, this will automatically put you in the PRO all motor class. Webbing in the doors can be trimmed.

Take the sound deadening up, then put the carpet back in. The front two door panels should be enough. Definately do not cut the floor. Try looking for some weight in other places like your brakes and wheels if you havent already.

I also didn't know that. I thought there was no cutting allowed at all.

Its good for me as I have power doors. Lock the windows in the up position and everything gone. This is of course for the rear doors. Ill just trim up the front doors.

i heard its legal to swiss cheese under your carpet also.....and its also legal to run nitrous in the allmotor class as long as the 2lbs bottle is taped to your leg and hidden under you pants...but it has to be duct taped no zip ties aloud

I doubt they said its legal to cut inside your door...there just not going to check to see if you did

from what ive seen that class is more governed by the racers in the class than the idrc officials. all glass, fuel cells are illegal, must have carpet, headliner, dash, door panels, 2 front seats, light weight hood & rear hatch allowed, running open header allowed, now for the kicker no minimum weight.....i personally haven't cut anything off my car (and will prove it to any hater that doubts), so i guess do what you have to do and like the old saying goes"it ain't cheating until you get caught"

i was gonna run the pro am all motor class, but this is my fist build and i havent really had that much experiance in heads up races so i just decided to run the bracket class. ive run many bracket classes at a drag strip down the road with other cars. we are hoping low 12's all motor ls/vtec, with a bore of 81.5 mm. thats just with what i hae got done now with the set up and the car, but i think im gonna go lexxan glass, and do some cut and re fabing of the floor pans and maybe firewall, and a alum. dash. so maybe i can hit high 11's, but i will be really happy with 12's since this is my first really build. i am wondering is there really any major ristrictions to the bracket class. and do i have to run two seats. the reall reason i am running bracket instead of pro am is cause i really dont think the car is gonna be quick enough to make the 8 field.

Running lexan, aluminum dash and cutting the floorpan eliminates you from running Pro Am, that will put you in the PRO all motor class.

These answers came straight from IDRC, so as far as I am concerned its legal.

Any question I have concerning legality of something I want to do I will contact IDRC and make sure it will be legal for the class. Just for ***** and giggles I will print the emails out and keep them in the car if I am called on anything.

Firewall and floor pan are offlimits for any kind of cutting, expressed in the rulebook, therefor I would not touch them, nor hide the fact that i did if I had. Make sense?

To each his own, and if its cleared by IDRC, it aint cheating.

today they say cutting the webing is legal and then next season it isnt....then your screwed.....

According to the rules-

Cast aftermarket cylinder heads and blocks are permitted for all vehicles.
