headshake question....
been meaning to ask this. on my old 550cc bike I could let go of the bars and I'd keep going straight easy no problem and no shake at all... my superhawk though if I let go the bars will start shaking. Now my question is... Is this from the massive engine breaking going on (remember this is a v-twin liter bike) or is there a balance issue somewhere? Bike has never been dropped or laid down... I've never had shake any other time btw and the ride is buttery smooth...
your superhawk doesn't do that??
and torqued down properly... no clue. I've not touched the suspension at all since buying it... the shop here put on my front brake rotors for me so I assume at least the wheel should be torqued properly...

Mine doesn't shake its head at all...only on rare occasions exiting turns.
Go back and take a look at your bolts/axle nuts etc. I don't trust most shops to do the job right.
I don't remember what to check for the head bearings. If you have a service manual, you might try looking through that.

well see the thing I don't get is it doesn't shake in any other occasion but it kind've makes sense that it would since weight is being transfered to the front wheel under the heavy engine braking and nothing to keep the wheel straight...
I'll check it out when I get home... bike is in storage 400 miles away still and I won't see it for another few weeks.... how much u think that costs and how hard to replace??

Does it only shake when the bike is decelerating? And only from high rpms?
Even so, I would still say, check the bearings. It shouldn't be too hard to check/replace, assuming you have the tools.

like I said I've never had it shake in normal riding. only will do so if I let go of both clip ons and just sit there with the engine braking. If I just let go of the throttle and hold on even in high rpm's it doesn't even attempt to shake.... like I said buttery smooth in all riding conditions except for when I let go of both bars... never tried dropping it to neutrall if I'm in second or something...
haha I only noticed it when I tried to adjust something like my helmet or gloves and kind've need two hands to quick do it. I thought it was the road and tried it again and noticed they started going side to side...

I'll check everything out when i get back... is it safe to say though that if I go in second and drop to neutral and let go and I go straight that things are fine??
