I have a 97' SH which has pretty much started grinding in 5th gear recently after I purchased the car. the grinding is not terribly bad but it still sucks. everyone that rides in my car mentions it. if anyone has had a similar problem, or has fixed the problem please let me know.

 

I just ordered an h22a w/ LSD tranny, and I have a suddle grind into 5th gear. No one has noticed it yet, but I can feel it.

 

I noticed that if im tearing through my gears and try to put it in 5th the same way you put it in 3rd (moving across/on an angle), then I grind. But if i move the shifter to the right first and then up into 5th it doesnt grind. >^ in that motion into 5th. Maybe my tranny is fine idk hope maybe that helps.

 

Try using synchromesh tranny fluid. I've heard it do wonderings including fix grinding gears.

 

either that or just change your tranny fluid using Honda MTF. How many miles on the trans ? Any issues with syncros or anything ?

 

TSB(tech service bulletin) accord/lude 5th gear upshift grind.

 

I have never changed the fluid, so that might help.
I guess the 5th gear grinding is quite common with accords and Ludes.
does anyone know if there was any recalls or anything.

 

5th was the first gear to grind in mine. Unfortunately from there it went downhill and I ended up needing a whole new tranny. After 5th, 3rd started grinding. I used Honda MTF the whole time (which is basically motor oil). However, it took a long time for this to happen. Hope your's isn't as bad.
