B18A (LS) rods work too. You will need to machine your crank to accept them.

actually, the big end of the LS rod is wider than the D-series, so you need to cut down the rod width in order to fit the crankshaft - big end bore is same - LS rods also have a larger diameter pin and won't work with stock type D-series pistons

acutally, once again, someone forgets to say some IMPORTANT information, doesnt seem iregular from some of you idiots, when you bild a dohc you need to dremel or file some of the block on the inside or the rods will not have enough 360 clearence to rotate around.

That all depends on the rods you use.

BTW> That is no different than using "those" rods in a d16a6.

alright so lemme get this, i can use any aftermarket rods from a d16a6? im gonna need to cut some of the block??????? Also, i read on nopionline.com, that the pin diameter is a bit different from the a6 to the z6 to the y8..... and one more thing, if i do but a new oem oil pump for the rebuild...which one do i use? teg or crx? or do i have to use the zc one...? sorry for all the questions, i just wanna do this right the first time so i don't have to rip the motor out again...

all D16 (including ZC) rods are the same - they do not have different pins - Eagle rods makes 2 different D-series rods - one with 5/16" bolts which do not require notching the block (which isn't a big deal) and one with 3/8" bolts which do require notching of the block - if you were to use the LS rods, they have a bigger pin and need milled on the big end to fit the crank - all internal parts on the ZC below the top of the block are the same as the D16A6, except for the timing belt

http://www.thezcr.com

They have a list of all internal and external parts sticked in their "ZC Discussion" section.

anyone aware of a company that makes zc pistons that would be good for like a 7psi turbo job?? cuz i found a compression calculator for dseries motors, and every other d series motor piston will give me no more than like 8.2:1 which is way lower than i wanna go, so i was just thinking go stock compression and have a machine shop grind off some of the dome and bring me down to around 9.2 or 9.3...but if i have other options please lemme know...

SRP makes a piston for the D16A6 with 4.3cc dome which should get you about where you want to be for compression ratio - around 9.4:1 - just remember when you enter this into compression calculator to use piston to deck height for the D16A6 and not the ZC
