Default Blinking D4 light

I have a 1995 Accord EX automatic. On occassion, the d4 light will blink on my dashboard and when it does the speedometer does not work. Even if i shift down to d3, the d4 light will stay on and blinks.

Any ideas? Thanks.

That is the transmission computer (tcu) telling you something is wrong. You need to get the trouble code from the computer. If you don't know how to get the codes, read this link (below). Or you could bring the car to a local auto parts store (autozone, advance) and they will get the code for free (I think). Come back and post the codes you get. Good luck

I'm guessing it's a speed sensor (vss)

PS: If your transmission fluid has never been changed, you need to do so. If it's really dirty, you may want to flush it.

You may have a vehicle speed sensor (mounted on the Transmission case) that intermittently forgets to send it's signal. The confusing part is that it normally will set a "Service Engine Lamp" as well.
It is the common point which would effect both the speedo and the TCM.

ps: I doubt you'll find an AutoZone Parts store on Luzon (or Manila for that matter) ........

What is VSS? Is that Vehicle Speed Sensor?

Yup, no AutoZone, Kragen, Napa, etc. here in the Philippines. To be exact in the island of Luzon. Any recommendations via the internet where i can purchase this "speed sensor"? I am thinking of having a friend from California buy it for me and FedEx it here. Yes, we do have FedEx and UPS :-)

Thanks a lot guys!

yes the VSS is the vehicle speed sensor. i dunno where you can get it on the internet. you might just want to have your friend in california find the right one at a junkyard and ship it over.

It's what's refered to as a "Dealer Item Only" Item. It's on of those non-universal sensors and such that aftermarket manufacturers don't bother with. These two stores are Honda Dealers on the web that sell at Dealer Wholesale prices to retail Internet sales.

They may ship direct VIA UPS Blue (2nd Day Air) or Red (next day) or FedEx International.
