Just some Noob Drag questions again.. Launching, street tires..etc
Hey well i'm fairly new to drag racing, (I'm 17 years old) , butu I've gone twice to the local race track near my house. I love racing , but as I put all my $ towards my car, I've only come to realize that it does no good, unles my driving skills are up to par. I drive a 95 Prelude Vtec with some decent mods (i can post if needed), but basically just a exedy clutch, jun flywheel, and the usual bolt ons. I was running on 15 stock wheels with some kuhmo 712 tires (gay!), and i pulled my best time of 14.9 at 93 with a 2.28 60 ft... with lots of wheel hop (before test pipe, and some other mods). I have some questions about the track, as this year i hope to hit LOW 14's..
My new motor is a jdm h22a, stock internally, with teh same clutch and flywheel setup. I've also added ES motor mount inserts, and got some new rims with tires that need replacing.
My questions are as follows:
1. What types of street tires are ideal for drag racing, but durable enough for daily driving? azenis are my first choice right now.
2. At the track, do i want to go into the water pit and do a burn out (ive always avoided it) or is my 60 foot pretty good?
3. What kind of 60 foot can you expect from street tires?
4. Between gears, is it right to just Drop the clutch while keepin the rpms high? or is it more of a slip?
any other advice?

Not sure really what to say about the azenis. I had them and used them twice my 60ft went down compared to my kuhmo's but the tires are really heavy. Also b/c they are more designed for auto X the sidewalls are really stiff so when you drop pressure the sidewall does not wrinkle or sage like a dr tire would. What would prob be better for you is to buy a set of cheap wheels and get a set of DR and swap them on at the track.
For your wheel hop problem motor mounts should help and traction bars but I am not sure if they make them for your car.
I would not go into the water and do a burn out unless you have DR or slicks. Just spin your tires a little bit on the way up to the lights to warm them up.
Hope that helps a little bit
