Well, here's something you don't see every day...
i got to drive a STI on a frozen lake in New Hampshire this christmas......probably one of the funnest times ever driving
i actually had to stop for a minute because i was so dizzy from doing spins...lol
if you ever have a chance to drive on a big piece of ice...DO IT.....just make sure it's THICK....unless u wanna die....lol

I doubt you will fall through several feet of frozen ice.
Looks like fun.

Right you are, sir.
Oh, it's just common sense to check the thickness of the ice before driving a car on it. This is not really that big of a problem in the normal Norwegian winter; sometimes the lakes will be frozen solid all the way to the bottom, but normally one has to settle for a thickness of about 2-3 meters wich will support several Leopard tanks (each around 40 tons, I believe?). I have no idea how thick the ice were in this situation, as this perticular event was held approx. 1,500 kilometres from where I live, but I'll just assume that the thickness was checked before anyone took their car out on there. The more observant of you will notice that a circuit has been plowed; this is usually done via a 3-4 ton tractor or via a closer to 10 ton heavy Volvo/Scania/Mercedes/Renault/DAF truck. I think that means a 1300 kilo Skyline would be OK.

Yup..it's going to be costly for you to remove out of the lake...EPA will rape on you that!

You wont fall through. 5cm of ice will carry a person.
20cm will carry 2000kg
30cm will carry 4500kg
50cm will carry 12000kg
80cm will carry 31000kg
Here in finland we have several "winter roads" that go over iced lakes. People use them without any danger. So saying "I'm waiting for them to go through" is just ignorance in your part.
