Where can I get the best fitting, lowest cost, pre-painted wing for an ep3?
I am looking for a wing along the lines of the HFP or CTR one. I want something that I can have shipped already painted and will bolt right on, no cutting, sanding or modding to make fit. I have been on handaccessories.com they seem to have a pretty competitive deal on the HFP wing and they are currently my front runner. So if you guys have any feedback on them or want to reccomend anyone else please give a holla'.
Thanks
Thanks
I got my HFP one from handa-accessories.com. They had the best deal going from what I could find. I just have to wait till it is at least 60 degrees outside to install it,as per the instructions. The CTR one,I believe needs some modification to fit, from what I have read. The HFP one seems to be identical as far as look to the CTR but fits perfect because it is made to fit the USDM ep3 Si's. In the meantime, Im trying to locate a JDM Honda interior piece that eliminates the third brake light cover and replaces it with a flat cover. The part number is 84438-S5T-E01ZA if you are interested.

Where you happy with the paint match? I know you said you didnt install it yet, but what is up with the film that gets installed on the inside of the window and primer you have to use on the outside?
thanks

Do you have one of theirs? They seem a lot cheaper than everyone else.

Didnt really bother comparing the paint as it is Honda factory paint and to me should be as close as it will get to a perfect match. Not to sure about the install but from what I have read, the inside film is used to cover the part of the back window where the spoiler is mounted to give it a clean appearance and the primer I believe is used as an adhesion promoter.

another thing to consider is CF Type R Spoiler from showstoppers..
-LED Brake lights
-simple bolt-on (no cutting)
-no painting necessary since its CF
-Good Price

that is a consideration I hadnt thought of. I like the idea of no cutting. Do you have one or have you seen one in person? I was just wondering what the quality if like, I always wonder about CF?

To *** up -- there are basically two ways to go. Get the HFP wing, or get a carbon fiber version.
HFP = perfect fit, perfect paint match. Carbon = good enough fit, no painting needed, cheaper overall, extra "bling" in the eyes of people who don't know that unpainted CF is cheaper than painted fiberglass.
Spoilerdepot came out with their version before Honda put out the HFP line. They saw the early US market demand for a CTR-style spoiler. Their product is plenty good, but the HFP spoiler is still nicer.

If you do decide to get a carbon fiber or fiberglass version of the CTR or Mugen style spoilers, make sure to research the fitment of these as alot them are molds taken from the authentic JDM versions of those spoilers and will need some modification to fit.

That is exactly what I dont want to happen. I dont want to cut, fab, mod or do anything outside of the install.

I got a used cf Mugen style wing. For me, it's actually a more practical option because the upper straps for my hatch-mounted bike carrier slip through the gap under the airfoil portion. They'd press down pretty hard on a CTR-style wing.
The fake Mugen wing was indeed modeled after the JDM version, and the additional mounting points (which don't exist on the USDM Si hatch glass) were already cut away by its previous owner.
As far as the CTR-style wings go, I'm mainly going off of what other EP owners have been saying over the last three years.

I have Mugen replica CF wing by VIS... fitted perfect with no cuttin ... the bolt on is very simple, a monkey with a wrech could do it...
It might be a little bit more work for the Type R though, since it has LED brake lights so you have to wire it up.. to be honest I personally havent done it but I've heard it was just plug and play..

I doubt you'd be driving the car fast enough to get any actual use out of it on the streets, lol. It's just for looks cuz the tiny *** wing that's on the ep3 normally, really looks pathetic.

You'd have to be at highway speeds to feel anything from a Mugen wing. It's a fairly good-sized airfoil, too, but whether it gets any clean air or not is a fact probably only known by Mugen.
I honestly can't really tell; I got my suspension done right before I got the wing, and that definitely made more of a difference than any wing would.
