Default Idle Issues

I need some help with some idling issues. I just recently cleaned out my iacv and now when i start the car it idles around 2k and kind of goes up and down a little bit but then once warm, it idles right at 750 witch is fine but the high cold idle at warm up and the slight uncontroled reving is wasting my gas like i have only gone 250 and i have 1/4 tank left i usually have like 320 miles on the tank by this time. What can i do should i completely take the iacv apart or what? Thanks

David

Fast idle valve, maybe.

Check this thread out. It helped accordisslow, maybe it will work for you. What year Accord do you have? The valve may be in a different spot.

well i checked it with the test of sticking your finger in the whole in the throttle body and it passed so not too sure? i thought there was something that controlled the cold idle at start up?

The FITV may be the problem. Did you read the link? What year Accord?

ok sorry im retarded i remember that link and now i don't want to work on it cuz the iacv was a pain but cleaning the iacv helped the rough idle you think the fast idle valve is any easier to clean and replace? Ok one more thing if these things do need replaced who knows where i can get these parts new for cheap??

Thanks

No, if you read the whole thread (I know, it's long) it probably only needs to be adjusted (outside ring screwed back down).

It's always good to change 10 year old seals. I thought the IACV and FITV were combined starting in 96.

i dont know if anyone has told you this yet or not but i had the same problem, i changed my fast ilde valve,(didnt fix it) then i started checking all my vac lines. everything was good.......... so i started to play with the idle screw. it ended up being my idle screw un did itself and so you might wanna try and screw it in all the way and then adjust it. just a thought. my car was a 88 accord lxi so i dont know what youre set up is but i think its alike

What did you clean it with. This always happen to me when the IACV get's dirty. I clean it with carb cleaner, and a good dose of it. I think it has something to do with the fact that I don't have and EGR. In either case clean the screen and the inside throughouly with carb cleaner.

Close the idle screw completely and back it out 2 turns only.

x2 since you stated that you cleaned every thing. After you set the idle, you may want to pull the ecu power and after a few mins reconnect it and let the car learn the idle again.
