steering wheel question
I have a 91 base with a 91 Si steering wheel installed. The original "boomerang" wheel was straight as it should be while going straight. The Si wheel is angled slightly to the left (the wheel is mounted in the correct groove and the front has been aligned by Honda. Why is the wheel off center and how can I fix it? Can an alignment be done to change the wheel position?
if you pop the "H" off of the steering wheel you'll see a nut- i think it's 19mm, you can loosen that up and pick up the wheel and move it over a couple of threads till you get it where you want it.
I have tried that. Here's the problem: The next thread over puts it too far right, the wheel has a notch around the hole and the bolt on the column has a notch that the wheel should fit into. Right now (the wheel being off center to the left), the notches are together as they should be. If I put the DX wheel back on, it will meet up center. Does anyone else have this problem with the Si wheel swap? Could an alignment where they position the wheel first, then line up the suspension with the wheel work?
How about lowering the steering rack, centering the column and then putting the rack back? I currently have a similar problem. When I changed out my steering rack, I didn't pay attention to the steering wheel locking mechizism. Now, when I want to lock the steering wheel, it has to be almost half turn.
