Default Anybody feeling that the Type R forum is getting a Little Stale?

I have been noticing it for about the last month and a half. it seems that the posts arnt as Heated or as Interesting.

Correct me if im wrong, but I thought it was alot more fun back in the day where we would all argue about differant cams, headers, whatever. it seems that ALOT of the older members that helped found the board have started to dwindle off.

I will now find myself looking at alot of other boards having the same discusions we had a year ago. and its nice to see.

I know that we have awnsered alot of the questions that we used to ask about. but I was just venting. please feel free to flame me anyway you would like, but maybe some agree with me.

I totally agree with you. My posts recently have dropped off because sometimes it just isn't interesting around here anymore. Not only that, the group as a whole is a lot less friendly than they once were...

Eventually there will be less to talk about right? It's not like it would be very interesting to answer "whats the best header and exhaust" 100 times. Sometimes there is only so much you can say. As long as this forum is alive and helpfull, I will always be here.

The problem is that the ITR is discontinued (in the States) and there is nothing new. We already know:
1. Best Header
2. Quiet exhaust, loud exhaust, powerful exhaust, etc. etc.
3. Best tires
4. Best engine mods for N/A or F/I
5. Best engine managment
6. Best suspension
7. How to drive the car correctly
8. How to secure the car from thieves (there is no way !)
9. Different type of radio mods or other interior mods
10. etc. etc. etc.

Basically, as said before, the forum is evolving into a community where people talk about anything car related or whatever. Some people like it, some don't. Remember, this place is optional, you don't have to visit here, you don't have to read all posts. I like it here, whether we talk about car stuff or just ITR stuff.

in my time here, I have seen a lot of the older, more mature owners stop posting for whatever reason. Theft, moving on to a new car, whatever. I think it was a bit more community-oriented then...we are definitely meaner now. Don;t know for sure why that is.

I actually did something a little off the wall and became a Mod over in the Integra Forum at SHO, "If you can believe that?"

I was getting bored a couple of weeks back and started reposting and searching there more often.

I struck back up my friendship with Tuan and it ended up that I asked him after helping him a little if I would be a good mod? He suggested to the administrator that I become one and help him out. Needless to say I was flattered...

I accepted.

SHO was, after all how I met all of You, and how R-speed was formed, And how I began racing and met great new friends!!!

I felt it time to give back a little more than I usually contribute. Less sarcasm and more assistance and education.

So yes I guess it Is a little slow here sometimes. But, It is an awesome breathe of fresh air here for me now.

A.

PS I know what the concensus is about SHO and felt that if I helped out a little it might get the slightest bit better. Come on over and visit from time to time.

PPS Yes it IS a very frustrating site sometimes, but, what the Hell, it is like a challenge to me and is not as boring I guess.

They're all mean. Hey how many "Best Header" posts can you read before it gets a lil boring? We just need a new topic to get things started up again

...we would all argue about differant cams, headers, whatever.

any time ANY of these questions come up, everyone is so quick to say DO A DAMN SEARCH! If people would actually HELP the person, maybe we could strike up some of the old conversations again...

people need to realize, just because they've heard about it/seen the post, doesn't mean that everyone else has...

The only posts I'm tired of seeing are the ones that start...ITR spotted (fill in the blank) and what wheels should I get?

Other than that, I'll talk about anything, even if it's been covered before, because I LIKE TO...this is why people come here and this is why we're here...

[end rant]

I've noticed that any new thread with the words "header", "cams", "tires" and a few other buzzwords are met with a swift and decisive "DO A SEARCH NEWBIE". Also anything that resembles a flame war is locked very quickly. Imagine if I started a thread with both the words hy-tech and smsp in the topic line. Or JUN and Toda? Basicly, as a newbie, I've sorta watched this forum agree to disagree on everything from azenis to slipstreams and whatever. Rembember too that it is starting to get nice out again, and I for one would rather be driving, cookin' out, drinkin beer at the park, whatever besides sitting on my computer like the geek that I am. Just my .02....as a newbie of course.

I feel that the treatment of "newbie" type questions with cursory or rude comments contributes to this fall off of info. exchange. Everybody was new once. new blood is good. Some people here know a hell of alot about these cars. I am awe struck often. I have read posts which may seem at first redundant, but end up learning alot of new info. I think all posts of a serious nature should be treated as such. I think the "do a search" answer is way overused. If one is not interested in a topic, do not read...and certainly refrain from rude, but useless comments. I have been reading these boards for close to 2 years now and i am still a newbie. I wish i could answer questions instead of ask them. I feel lucky that those who do know share.

This a good place. good people. smart people.
ever check the other boards?... I mean MAN. Although I like the WRX i can not stand iclub. well some of it is good..the power war stuff...but, mostly..all those woodsy yuppie types! yeck! VWvortex..I don't think sooo. The people here are cooler and more knowledgeable than any other board i know of. I am older than most..but i do not want a BMW...then I would be..one of them. god forbid.

I agree with the opinion that the "newbie" questions are too often answered with, "Do a search!" Ok, I can search, and find things on a subject that were discussed 6 months ago. BUT, just maybe things have changed in the last 6 months. For example, maybe, just maybe, somebody here recently heard a compelling rumor from a reliable source that Acura will release the RSX-R in this country. {Sidebar: Don't yell @ me & tell me that there is no RSX-R. We all know damn well that if the HONDA INTEGRA TYPE R (DC5) is released here, IT WILL BE THE ACURA RSX-Type R. We all might as well learn to love it} There is no way to know this if we don't ask every once in a while.
I am in fact a newbie, & it's nice to read the things people post. By reading the posts, I often get the answers to questions that I didn't even know I had. I could have never learned that information by a search. I never knew to search it! I appreciate the fact that some people here don't mind answering the $0.25 questions every 2 months. There is an apparent wealth of knowledge here, be proud of that, and please willingly share it.

Ok, I'm done. Thank you, drive through.

BTW...Dude, where's my car?

I really don't see anything wrong with telling newbies to search. Many questions posted have been from newbies or others just unwilling or too impatient to search. Some don't even think about searching. This is just poor conduct. I do have a beef with how the search function has been bastardized. Not all posts have good keywords in the title. Ever since the "searching in the whole post" function was removed I have a problem locating what I need. With a crappy search engine you only increase the amount of stupid-newbie-already-answered-10-times-before questions.

You guy's just need to get a little off topic and the amount of stuff you can discuss will increase dramatically...

This is after all like a conversation among friends... It's a SOCIAL way to interact and get ideas and information across... The accent should be on social... The technical stuff is getting beat to death lately..

Even Type R people have some kind of life and other things they are interested in or proud of besides the Japanese car in their driveway

Try going to the Prelude forum... I swear, the past 3 weeks there have been nothing but BS posts. At least you guys get more than 4-5 new topics a day.

I still spend most of my time on this site. It has been slow around here, I'm pretty sure my posts have fallen off, but it's all good, we still get the occasional ITR meet out of it .
