No clue why you are having trouble fitting a filter as they are BOTH the same....

Any B-series oil filter will work on any B-series block. Even S2000 oil filters fit.

I personally use the Nippon Filter shown in the link (Also sold under "Altrom" in Canada). I haven't come across the Purolator/Wix ones in Canada yet....albeit I haven't looked very hard.

The Nippon Filter (shown below) is pretty much the same as the original Toyo Roki filter that came on all B18C5s new from the factory.

Also to note, while the filter shown is made in south korea, ALL of my Altrom/Nippon ones I have ever used were made in Japan....

why doesn't it fit?
is the nipple on the block too big? i doubt it.
i know on a gsr there's a intake manifold thing that holds up the manifold which runs within centimeters of the oil filter,
and if you use a filter that's a little bigger (i.e. the mobil M105)
it will not fit, but it will fit on a type r that doesn't have that intake manifold bracket thing.

I had this problem on a JDM Si-VTEC a few years ago. I removed the OE honda filter that came on the car from japan, bought a new filter from my local honda dealer and the thread pitch was too large for the filter. No one could explain what the hell was going on. I went into an autoparts place where a friend of mine works and he said they had 3 different honda filters made by Union Japan, so i took all three of them with me. One of them fitted but the other 2 were too small to screw on the threaded bit. I brought the other ones back to him and bought 4 more of the type that fitted just to have in case i couldnt get them again. I dont know if something was changed (oil cooler perhaps) or of it was that way from the factory but thats the way it was.
