Probably installed LED's w/out the corresponding resistors in some of the directional bulb sockets.

If you insist.
LED's by their nature, do not exhibit the same internal resistance for the same voltage rating, and because of this, an LED rated to replace (say) an 7440 bulb (or 1156) would require a resistor wired in series with it as to show the same total circuit resistance the flasher unit is expecting. For example, an LED (without the resistor) being of a lower internal resistance would act more and more like a bulb that had shorted across the filament, flashing faster....

the reason I asked was I want to put LED 1157's and when the bulb is locked in they don't work. I've settled myself to wait till the technology evolves. I'm not talking about turn signals I mean brake lights. If I put the bulb in backwards it seemed to light propperly but of course I couldn't lock it in. Probably just poor design... What OHM resistor should I use if anybody ever makes a bulb that will work propperly?
Should have known to ask you in the first place. Thanks!

The second Funky thing about LED's (Light Emitting Diodes) is, just like all Diodes; they are directional. You can hook them up just one way. This isn't much of a consideration for bulbs like 7440's and 1156's, but when you take 1157's and 7443's - they are directional (and if they're manufactured backwards, you can't just flip them around)

Just something I thought of when reading. If you can't turn the bulb around (won't lock), could you switch the wires on the plug to make it work right?

i considered that BUT when the bulb is locked in the right direction it won't work. When i just hold it in there without it locking the light will turn on but as soon as it locks in it's off again, brake and running light. So i'm just sticking with the old fashioned bulbs untill someone designs an LED bulb with LED's facing outwards and to the side, with an internal resistor. It shouldn't be too far off... i hope.

another way to do it..is with a potentiometer...do a search on google and you'll find a step by step on how to do it..

it'll actually make your blinker speed adjustable...it'll cost about 2.50 to do the mod...but be warned...many HTers hate fast blinkers...

lol...

i hate quick blinkers because lights, of any color at night tend to be bright to me.

nothing i hate more than going home after a long tiring day at work and having to watch a strobe light
