Check out my hide-away Radio that I made!!!
I wanted a visual deterance even though it has a detachable front panal I had to fabricate everything. The alpine unit has a **** that sticks out kinda far so I had to find something else that works. (the konb does not detach like the IVA-d310)

i did the same thing along time ago in my old civic, i found that you can mount the alpine radios really far back in the dash and it will clear the ****, the alpines let you retract the screen forward to clear more.
had a cva-1005 behind the fake stock faceplate, also has a big **** like the d300 if anyone is interested also i still have the fake faceplate for sale since i dont have the car anymore

yep did it all myself. I got my last one jacked and I had a cover over it but it was a regular face plate cover. it was someone who knew it was in there becuase it wasn't showing and they wouldn't have known.
I'll do a write up on it. People have been doing it for years i just thought about it since i had that expesive Alpine
Here are the pictures of the fake faceplate i made, basicly take the deck apart and glue all the buttons back in place, i put a piece of one side of velcro on the bottom to keep the face plate in place. The backside i took a dremel to it and ground away all the plastic that wasnt being used so there will be max clearance for the deck.

that's my write up, becuase the inside of mine look identical...hehe but mine I relocated the button to the bottom becuase my button is too big on my alpine so i had to make up for it
Do you have your stock unit. I'm thinking about buying alot of the stock units and selling them. the only problem is all units aren't the same, well if it's just a normal radiio head unit I can do them. I'll let everyone know if I'm selling them
