I've never done it before, but plan on doing it in the next week or so. I'm going to follow the instructions here http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/v...lveadjust.html

its ALOT easier if you have this tool from snap-on http://buy.snapon.com/catalog/PRO.as...snapon%2Dstore ... if not you will probably need to grow out another arm

Bocian: i got my angled feeler guages at sears.. some people have said that you can get the flat ones and bend them (they offer more sizes/range).. its cheaper too.. but I already bought my angled.. so never tried that..

When feeling for drag, for example purposes let's say the specs are .06-.07, you can stay consistent when adjusting the valves by making it tight enough so that you CANNOT fit a .08 feeler gauge at all. .07 should feel very tight and .06 should glide easily with noticeable drag. I hope that made sense. Also, remember to double, triple, and quadruple check!

If you are desperate for a valve adjustment tool, you can do what I did and simply use a deep socket 10mm (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and a small, vice grip. Angle the socket accordingly to the vice grip, and there you go...instant valve adjustment tool. It is harder to work with, but it works. Use this technique as a last resort because the valve adjustment tool definitely makes the job easier. Good luck!

That's what I'm saying. Imagine all the aggrivation you haev to endure the first couple of time doing it, not worth the time and agony. Like when I change my little sis's accord fuel filter. What should of been a half hour job took almost 2.5 hours because the "CHILTON" manual I had made it look SO EASY but it was NOT. I could of just pay my local mechanic $30 to do it.

But anyway, $85 is a lot. Most places charge only $50-$60 for a valve adjustment.

yea 85 is a lot and a valve adjustment is something that your car needs to have done quite often. its a no-brainer...devote a day to it, or maybe half, get the damn tool for like 20 bucks and learn to do this yourself. hmmm....20 and unlimited times to do the valve adjustment or $85 about every 15-30K miles. clearly youre better off doing it yourself, but at the same time if you think youll mess something up, then dont do it or get someone who did it before to help you. i never did a valve adjustment but i am confident that i will be able to do it. im gonna try and post the results.
hth!

(sorry for the off-topic reply)

Damian,

Please reply to my email. Here is a copy in case you didnt get it the first time:

>>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>
Damian,

What is the deal man? Have you sent the stuff of what?
Alex has been very patient, but this is getting ridiculous. The stuff was supposed to be shipped to him more than a month ago.
Was it indeed shipped out or not? Please confirm.
If I cannot confirm that the stuff has been sent, I'm going to have to give Alex his money back. If you have not sent the stuff to Alex, I need you to refund my $195.00 back to me immediately. I mean, I found a buyer - I sold them the stuff, but it was more than a month ago and apparently they have not been shipped. I am not going to arrange another sale because I have no guarantee that the same thing won't happen again and I don't think it's fair for me to have to sell this stuff again.
I can understand if someone is very busy, but Alex is correct in that a simple email reply is not too much to ask.
Either way, I need you to reply quickly so we can get this resolved.
If you would like to discuss this over the phone, please call my cell phone at 919-XXX-XXXX or call me at work on Monday at 800-934-3348 ask for Mike.
I'm trying to not make a big deal about this, but I am tired to wasting my time and having to try and explain the unexplainable to Alex.
Be a stand up guy and let me know what's going on - follow through with your deal man...c'mon.

Mike,
Look, it seems to me that Damian is not responding to my emails, but he posts everyday to hondatech. This means that for sure he has seen the email and decided for some reason not to answer simple questions like "How did you ship them out?" I am not dealing with this situation anymore. He says "dude jest email me", but when I do their is no response. I don't care how busy someone is, it just take a minute to respond to simple questions like that.
I am sorry that we had to get all mixed in this three way deal. But since it has taken so long and I am being ignored by the shipper, the situation has to be put to an end now. If you were serious when you said "...you will get the shocks and springs or your money back...", (and this is not some kind of scam) then you should refund my money now. I don't like to assign blame to anybody, but I did my part along time ago when I sent out the money and I am done waiting.. Maybe you can find someone else to sell them to.

Damian,

I would not have to post here if you would reply to my email:
VTEC@NC.RR.COM
I sent the preceeding email to you on Sat 3/23/02 2:48 PM and Tue 3/26/02 3:05 AM
I am involved with this since I am the one that sold Alex the stuff. You are just supposed to ship them. How and when did they ship? Please reply to my email so we can save everyone else the pain of having to read this.

Trust me, it works. It's a great technique to go by if you haven't done a valve adjustment before. You'll eliminate all the guesswork as to if you're getting enough drag or not.
