Default Messed Up Prelude

Ok, My 1998 Prelude is really really messed up. I Just bought the car almost a month ago and im having alot of problems with it. It is a a Non-Sh Type Lude and it was a pre modified car. It doesnt have that many mods but i think some of them and the driving behavior of the person before i got the car really screwed it up.

The first thing that went wrong was the Battary keeps going dead in the car so i thought that i would change the alternator, because the car has 90K miles on it. I had it rebuilt and i still have the problem only now it is worse, i dont think the Vtec is working and the car acts like it hits the Rev Limiter at about 6K. The speedometer also doesnt work and the radio stoped working. I think the car is getting more air than fuel which would make it rev out of bog down like a poorly tuned turbo car. I fear that the Ecu might be causing all these problems but that doesnt explain why the battary wont hold a charge. I would just take the car in and have someone with the knowledge see whats wrong but my father wants me to try and problem solve. If anyone can give me some help i would really appreicate it. Thanks

wow tons of problems that could be related, i advice to take it to a technicain unless you get manual for your car.
Do you have any check engine lights.

With so many problems it might be best to let a tech look at it. Have you replaced the battery? It might not be holding a charge anymore. Another possible explanation is that your radio might be draining the battery. Have you pulled the head unit out? A similar thing happened to me in my old Lude. The clock in the dash went dead on me. I kept loosing charge in the battery. Anyway, my mechanic said that the clock was draining the battery. Disco'd the clock and no more battery problems.

Did you Carfax it before you bought it? If not, see if you can ask someone who has an account to check the VIN for you.

I didnt have it CarFaxed, I got a new Red top, and the radio kinda just sits there. It doesnt lite up and the Clock does dim. There are also no engine lights on. Its the weridest things, Its irritating too.

Pull the radio for a few days to see if that helps. Also, pull the ecu to see which one you have. I think 5th gens are the same as the 4th gen as far as location. Pull back the carpet on the front passenger side to get to it. Check your fuses as well.

Your computer might have a virus, ask for some Norton Antivirus at Pepboys.
