Default which helmet

so i've found a guy that i'm working a deal wtih .. and basically i can get any Shoei or Arai of my choice (has to be in stock of course, or i'll have to wait)

He has the Shoei X-Eleven Norick, but i'm not too fond of the graphics so i can get anything.

I'm really wanting the Arai Nicky Hayden Laguna helmet, but it would be a 2-3 week wait.

I dunno, any suggestions? ha i know it's a pretty retarded thread and everyones gonna post something different, but maybe i'll see something i like?

Looking mainly at the Shoei X-Eleven and the Arai RX-7 Corsair.

What are peoples opinions on the helmets in general .. not the styling, but wind noise, comfort, etc etc etc etc.

thanks

It all comes down to which helmet fits better on your head. Even between the RX7-Corsair and the X11, there are differences.

The X11 vents. A LOT. Insane air flow. I have to close my vents in the morning because there's too much air coming through.

Don't forget to buy ear plugs, regardless of which of these helmets you pick. Your hearing will thank you.

i would definitely wait for the nicky hayden helmet. that helmet and tommy gun helmet are freaking sick!

i have the rx7 corsair wraith and i love it. the helmet is so light, it gets very good ventilation but with that a lot of wind noise. i wear eag plugs anyways so that doesn't bother me. i had a rf1000 before my arai and the arai is literally 10x better in everyway.

-well i'm gonna go try em both on again. I tried the Shoei on more, and it was comfortable. I need to see how well i like the Arai again.

Graphic wise, i like the Arai's more. I'm tired of dragons, and tribal, and all that crap. Actually i'm not sure of what i want (a Suomy would be tight .. i like the detail of the helmets).

For the Arai ... probly looking at the Nicky Hayden. but i dunno, i'll be on a black bike and probly black leather (gotta get a new jacket ... a* stage jacket looks pretty sweet .. reasonable price too).

For the Shoie, i dunno, maybe the Nordick, Gonna keep looking though.

Its like buying a new car

not sure about colors .. just trying to avoid dragons and tribal etc.

I would like a somewhat brighter helmet for visabliity.

I'm leavin to Cycle Gear now to try on that Arai again. The Shoei was really comfortable, and I hope the Arai is just as comfortable. Still got my eye on the Nicky Hayden Lagana Arai .. but who knows

try them on. I put an RX-7 Corsair on my head and it didn't fit. Then tried what the guy suggested would fit.. The Arai Profile. and It fit like a glove.

For trying them on first

Both lids are great but get the one that fits your head best. Arai and Shoei have different shapes.
I love the x-11, its going to be my next lid.

ya i like the Edwards replica, but it would probly look pretty weird on the street, and my bike and gear wouldn't match.

still leanin towards the Arai Nicky Hayden (as far as aesthetics go) i think, didn't make it to Cycle Gear tonite to try em on.

If you've got all black leathers, any helmet will do.

As for which design, I say go with a solid color helmet, either black or white, and then go crazy with vinyl sticker patterns. You'll end up with something custom never seen before, and if you want to have something "new," just peel off the stickers and do it all again. Or, airbrush it.

Nice. I have both the X-11 and Rx7 corsair. Both helmets are awesome. X11 vents better though. But i like the Arai liners better.

I love my arai Rx-7 corsair Matusdo edition

I would suggest trying them on at a local dealership/shop so you can see how they feel on you. Everyone has a different shape head and each helmet fits differently. No sense paying $500 for a good lid if it doesnt feel good.

But as for the arai. It is very light, mad comfortable, wind noise isnt to bad (but i ride with headphones usually), doesnt fog up really, venting is good. All around I think it is a great helmet.

*edit*
well i just read the whole thread (shoulda from the beginning) everything i said was said before me. oh well....heres a pic of mine not to good though

What's up with those ugly patriotic helmets.
IMO, those flags and red/white/blue colors KILL the style of the helmet. Just my 2 cents.

for one, flags and patriotic helmets have been around foreevvver.

second, if you followed GP, you'd know why these specific helmets are the way they are.

third, i'm military so the flag doesn't bother me too much

I guess. To each his own. Personally, they're as tasteful as the people with lifted F-150's with a huge sticker on their rear window of an eagle and an American flag. But hey, what really matters is what the person wearing the helmet thinks.

What's going on in GP? I've caught some of last season, Valentino is still the greatest.

well as far as these helmets are concerned, the Nicky Hayden helmet (one i'm getting) and the yellow one with the #5 on it, the Colin Edwards, are replicas of the ones they wore at the GP race in Laguna Seca .. one of the first GP races here in quite a while, so of course they sported our courntries colors.

Also these helmet are super hard to find, been sellin out like crazy! The cycle gear near me as the Colin Edwards, but they put a sign on it not to touch it lol, but there are tons of Arai's you can touch. weeeird.
