What clucth would be best for this set up
Well i did some searches and didnt really find what i was looking for ...
Well right now my set up is
Spoon header 4-2-1
hi flow cat
Apexi N1 exhaust
AEM CAI
Im planing on getting :
ATS final drive 4.9
toda flywheel
what kind of clucth would work best for this set up...
I was look around and im not hearing very good things about excedy...
i was also looking at the Toda kit clucth/pp/flywheel but it is a bit pricey ...
are act clucths good? them seem alittle cheaper and i hear some good things about them ..
I will be using the type R for daily driving and it may see some track days but mainly for daily what do you recommend ?

I've got all the bolt ons with Hondata and the stock clutch works good for me. When it's time to replace it I'll go stock again. I like the feel of it. Hard to beat OEM quality.
.....look into the action 1ks or 2ks as well as the 1md or 2md.
I like a 6-puck unsprung for the direct engagement and lack of worries about springs falling out.
But I have the toda clutch right now in one of my cars and it's a mild upgrade over stock. If you plan on making any decent power, do NOT buy the toda street clutch, as it cannot handle the powerRRRR.

hmmmm i think i might get a OEM one then .... my clutch right now is fine i dont have a problem with it, but im going to install a ATS final drive and a flywheel so i think i might as well change it if im down there so i dont have to do it again down the road... if i resurface my old ITR flywheel how much do they sell for ?? might as well sell that if im geting a toda flywheel ... and i dont think a used ITR clutch is worth much even tho it's in really good shape ..

Some people have had problems with them, search the archives for more details. Personally, I had the Exedy Full face organic in my previous GSR, now driven by my brother, and one in my ITR and have not had any issues with either of them yet. I would purchase another one.

Since Exedy is Honda's OEM Brand, you can try to do the Exedy Stage I Hydro for the bseries. Its a great clutch, shortens pedal length by about 30-40% and is still quite light with a jist of firmness. Ive had these on my car for about 10k and its great. As well, every other B series bandit ive owned and a D series have been holding by the Exedy Stage I organic.

i like the exedy stage 1. I had it in my EG and my friend has one in his ITR, both of which have seen 20 - 30k miles with no problems.
exedy / daiken makes the oem clutches, and i have never heard anything bad about them... but it appears others have had problems ?
im sure the oem clutch will be fine to put in, but i personally like the exedy stage 1's feel.

Take alook at action street disc with heavy duty PP. Looks like a nice set up and not to bad on the price. For some more the action 1ks would be nice...

This is almost my exact setup.
I have:
Toda 4-2-1
Carsound Highflow Cat
T1R Catback (b pipe + Axleback @ 2.5")
Mugen Airbox
Toda Flywheel
Toda Street Clutch w/ Pressure Plate
ATS 4.9 FD in a USDM ITR tranny
At ITR Expo 5 I invited mikehonda to take my ***** out on the track to let me see what my car was capable of, since I am still learner. He sure did surprise me once he got the brakes and tires warmed up. So I got one hell of a ride-along in my own ITR. Very fun.
Back to my point, he said we needed to bleed my brakes once more, and sometime in the future replace my clutch (only because it's worn and will need it sometime). So my question was, "What clutch do you recommend?
mikehonda's response was just buy an OEM clutch... cheap, and able to handle the horsepower I was acheiving. So this was an article or discussion I have been sort of watching to see what other people's thoughts were on this.
Thanks, and good luck.

The ACT HD clutch/pp is what I decided on.
It should last a little longer than stock (I hope...), and it is slightly stiffer, as advertised.
I had no problems with fitment or bearings, and put in a Toda flywheel at the same time. Very happy.
I looked at OEM, Exedy, and Action when I was trying to decide.
The Action seemed like a good product, but I was sort of scared off by the fact that I couldn't really find a consistent opinion on carbon kevlar clutches.
The OEM of course was an option, considering the price, but I've already gone through 2 clutches (120,000 miles) and I wanted one that (might) last longer.
It really came down to Exedy and ACT, and after reviewing the products, and costs, and driving a car with an ACT thats what I chose.
