Default Tires What Kind

Ok im sure lots of people ask this. And lots of people have diff. opinions on this. But what is it best all around tire? I need a tire that wears good b/c i drive my bike down a straight road some times to work and it wears the center bad. And one that will grip well. I also don't wanna spend tons of money on them. I was thinking the pilot sport tires I have heard they wear good and grip good. Any info would be Great Thanks

Pilot Powers, if you know your going to be just commuting on them just pump up the psi a little bit more. I have 3 trackdays and about 2000-2500 commuting miles on my Pilot Powers, and they are wearing very well.

I just recently read a post on 1000rr.net about the Dunlop Qualifiers which are similar to the Pilot Powers. The guy used both and took 2 seconds off his time with the dunlops. Might wanna check into that.

3 track days on the same set?

I just did half a Day on Pilot Powers (street) and They are well worn on the sides. I dont think I could get another track day from them!

Yep, I run higher pressures than most people(michelin and their tire reps suggest higher pressures), 30/30(which is what most people run) cold is to low, once they warm up they get "greasy" and I can feel them slide a bit. Depending on the weather and the track, I will range from 35f 36r to 37f 38r, these are cold pressures.

i would second the pirelli diablo. it has great rain traction and obviously good dry traction and it wont wear as fast as others. plus theyre cheap.

Ok I have decided with the powers since most people have said that and i have heard good things from this tire. Another ? I have a 12/60/16 Front tire. it on my 03 r6 I was wondering what is the diff. it i go to a 120/70/16? I know my friends 750 and my other friends r1 both have a 70 series tire. what do you guys rec. should i change b/c i can get it easier or use the 60. I was told that it is good to go to a 70 b/c it has a better contact patch and a more stable tire? I don't know for sure though. Thanks

you might have to adjust the front fender, the tire should spin freely without touching but your tire can swell up and touch the front fender.

this guy didn't adjust his bike for a 70 series and went to the track:

Thats not a big deal i can do that. Should i change it? is it any better? is it any worse? does it mess up the handling of the bike?

Supposedly it makes the R6 less twitchy and a bit more stable in turns.

You'll also want to adjust your forks (bring them up through the triple) about 10mm to offset the increase in tire size.

Either the Pilot Powers or the Dunlop Qualifiers. Been hearing good stuff about the Qualifiers. I've used the Powers on my old bike and loved them. 1 trackday + 1000 street miles and they looked almost new. Going to use them on my NSR since they're the best street tire that I can get in my size (110 frt, 150 rr). Too bad they dont make the Qualifiers in my size or I'd give them a try.

is your suspension set up right? How many miles did you put on them before taking it to the track? I know plenty of people that have done 2+ trackdays on their PP's and they still looked good

So is all that a good idea? I mean making the bike more stable sounds good to me. Just dont know if this is the reight way to go. thanks for all the info.
