exhaust question
Hi guys. I got a question. I recently took a look at my exhaust and there are some holes in the fat center piece.. NowIm having trouble Identifying this part.
I have a picture of the part oh waht I am talking about

I was wondering what this part was called.
I have a 93 Honda prelude SRV.
One mechanic I took it to said it was the resonator. Honda told me it was the catalytic converter, (despite the manual saying something about the 3way catalytic converter just before it) and quoted me $1200 to replace it.
So I turn to you guys to help me out a bit. What is the piece called and how much would it cost to run.
Also If I were to replace the entire exaust system. What would be a good quiest exhaust system. MY lude is my daily Driver and I like a nice silent car for cruising on the high way and stuff.
Thanks
Chris

the part circled is generally reffered to as the "mid-pipe" (exhaust pipe B) and includes a resonator, not a catalytic converter.
You can probably get this piece from autozone or napa for $100 to $150 and install it yourself. a Muffler shop should be able to do it for less than $300.
I have the RS*R exmag cat-back and think it sounds very nice, not too loud, just deep. It is a full cat back system and i was able to install it myself.
