Longer 1st gear = better 60' = 330's?
So here is a question for the guys that have had time to exactly figure out what helps a car 60' and 330' better.
For this next season I plan on either running a b16 or a gsr transmission (preferably gsr) on 25" slicks and a 4.7 final drive. Now with the power I would like to run this setup with (mid 600's) the gsr transmission seems like a better choice as far as trap speeds go while using the 25's and reving to 9500rpm.
So I was thinking would a 3.000 1st gear help out alot with getting the car to 60' better or even 330 easyer sence I know a few people here said they wait to c the 60' marker to shift or whatever..

I was/am a firm believer in that. I did that this last season, with good success. For the record it was a S4C that I used with 25"/26" M/T slicks. 1.58-1.63 60' times usually. Did see an occasional 1.70 though, but that was usually due to poor prep or tire shake.

I have been wondering about this for a while and have asked quite a few people about it. It seems like if you are spinning hard in first you might as well make it a little taller to mellow out the power delivery and let you hold onto the gear a little longer....

ATS sell's a 3.07 for the 4.7 and 4.9 final drives..
Looking into it more now the 4.7 final isn't really gona work to great for me sence I would be toping out 4th gear at 143mph or so with the gsr trans.
A better option would be that same first gear (3.07) in a gsr trans with a 4.4 final..
It tops out in the mid 150's. Power output determines alot of things in my perticular situation.
