Speedo cable problem getting the core out of the tranny??? help???
I have a b18c in my crx and I got a broken speedo cable and the core is broken off in the shafy how do I change that thing how do I get it out and replace that thing??
there is 1 10mm bolt holding the speedo gear in the tranny. undo that, slide the speedo mec. out, bang upside down.
i have a problem with my speedometer too, not working. opened the cluster up, undid all the plugs and took it for a drive. it seems the cable isn't turning. is it suppose to be turning? i think that's how the speedometer works right? can it be broken?
then i tried to take the thing out of the tranny. took off the 10mm but the thing wouldn't come out? what's a good way? i've tried pulling it and it still won't budge. sure it's just going to pop out or is there something else i missed?

Just twist/tilt the speed gear left and right while pulling it out will do the trick. As for Kaotic Kustom, it depends on what gauge cluster you are using. If stock cluster then use the stock speedo cable and gear, everything will bolt up. If using 92-up cluster then you will have to get a vss from any 92-up civic or integra (would prefer the cx or so models with smaller vss, fits better) and wire it up. Hope this helps. I have a jdm gsr into my 91 crx si and I'm using a 98 Gsr cluster with a 93 civic vss.
