On an 98 SH with h/i/e,ngk wires, ngk v power plugs.... what would be a correct plug gap? Stock is .044 correct ?

 

Thats correct for stock.

 

The range is .039-.044 off the top of my head.....and the service limit is .051

Don't ask why i remembered that. But i did.

the wider the gap you have the more area the spark will cover. the more area the spark covers the quicker your air/feul mixture will combust. but at the same time the spark will lose power. at least thats what i think IIRC...
