To my knowledge what needs to be done is you get your program, then burn it to the chip using the rom burner you bought, then put the chip inside the ECU that you had a socket soldered into, and then you go and drive.
My friend did all of this last summer, but my memory of all of the steps to do this is kinda fading. It did work really well though. The launch control using the A/C button was cool.
