Default Headunit problems

hello

i have just purchased an '93 Import Prelude VTi after a year of saving for one...

Problem I have though is the car comes with the standard Jap headunit/equaliser and an Aftermarket Sony 10 cd Autochanger.. The changer is plugged into the headunit by some control box where the aerial is connected... I cannot however get the headunit to recognise the changer is there. Am i going to have to buy a new cd headunit that will be compatible with the changer or will the original headunit work with it. i can't afford to buy a new headunit just yet... but i need my tunes in my car...

any help would be much appreciated

Phil... Kent in England

Did the previous owner say it was working? Many aftermarket CD changers have a separate remote for them...

so the cd changer is pluggged into the back of the headunit? I would take it out and make sure it is plugged in...then make sure that the cd changer is turning on.

Thanks for the reply.

The CD Changer works- i've got a remote to turn it on and it plays a cd, there is a dash mounted control which a cable runs from to a grey box which in turn is wired to the headunit, the aerial from the headunit is connected to the grey box... the dealer i bought it off said he could not get it to work but assumes the previous owner had it working i assume because i'd of thought they'd have bought a new headunit. anyway, thinkin if it could be the grey box between the headunit n changer control that is at fault ?..
