Default block options and head rebuild questions

i recently paid $1000 for a complete jdm h22 swap - yeah good price, but it had a spun rod bearing on #2...the guy swears he didnt know, not sure how thats possible but he cooperated and gave me $500 back. but anyways...the crank, 2 rods, 2 pistons, and 2 cylinder walls are shot, so im convinced that its not worth rebuilding since at least 1 cyl needs a sleeve...well here are my options...which do you think is least expensive/best value?? (keep in mind i will be doing almost all the labor exc. machine work)

1. buy h23 block and rebuild w/ new bearings, type-s pistons/rings, water pump, oil pump, all that good stuff.........................
and ill need to have the rods re-bushed (what all is involved in this??? do i need special tools? new parts?)

2. buy h22 block and throw in some rings and new bearings/fasteners

3. buy another complete assembled jdm swap w/ tranny ($1500), toss it in the car and sell the other motor's pieces on ebay

...also the head may need a rebuild - i removed the cams so valves were all closed and poured water in the ports and found that on 6-9 valves the water dripped right away, with rapid drips...the leakiest were exhaust - maybe carbon build-up on the seats??? but anyways, what am i looking to pay for new guides, seals, new oem valves and seat regrind???

thanx for your help guys, feel free to add suggestions...and sorry about the long post, it took me a while to write and ive been up all night thinking about vtec. also could i add that i never realized how good the prelude forum is here at h-t!!! the search button did half my research!!

http://www.honda-performance.com sells an aftermarket valvetrain kit that comes with seals - and they also sell bronze valve guides.

I say take the block - have it sleeved, get aftermarket pistons and rods, and you'll be set.

With that, you can go with an all out crazy N/A, or an all out Turbo application. Your choice

Lets see.

The sleeve job will cost about $1200
Rods $300
Pistons(450-600) whatever.

If you can afford it I would get a whole new swap and part the other motor out. You will probably be able to get all of your money back if not more.

If you are worried about the head take it to a machine shop and have them once over it for like 120 bucks. they will pressure test it, hot tank it, clean it up, and inspect it.

Eaither way you cut it, this isnt going to be cheap. OEM parts are expensive and without the proper tools or knowledge, completly dissasembling the head is not fun. For the 120 dollars, i let the professional do it and have it done for me in 2 or 3 hrs. No big deal.

well good thing i go to mechanic school...i have already disassembled the head except for the seals and guides, and for them i could just send it down to the machine shop class (but then i gotta wait who knows how long, and theyll probly expletive it up)...i would rather take it to a machine shop or pay someone at my school who knows what theyre doing for the seals/guides/have seats cut...how much would i pay for just that at a shop??
