More performance for my 99 Prelude
I have a 99 prelude with 58000 miles that I just bought, and currently just have an aem intake and dc headers that came already on it. I was wondering what kind of performance gains and what brands would be best for some performance parts. I am looking at buying a catback exhaust, throttle body, intake manifold, cam gears, pulleys, fuel rail, fuel injectors, and a new cam. I was wondering what would probably be the best to start out buying first. I am going to do all of these things now with the money from my Accord I sold. I just want to make sure what I buy is a good brand and the best I can buy. And what other parts I can replace that I have not listed to get all of the horsrepower I can. Thanks.

If you are willing to open up your engine, you can port the head, throw some forged high compression pistons in. If you do this, you will have to sleeve your block. To avoid this get type S pistons. Don't forget rods.
If you are getting cams don't forget to upgrade your valvetrain as well (Supertech
).
Depending on your satisfaction with the dc header, you might want to modify the collector to 2.5" with the same size exhaust piping (w/ hi flo cat). For serious power consider DTR (six sigma), RMF or SMSP headers.
Last but not least tuning. There is crome, hondata and neptune.

What are your goals ? Are you planning on stayin NA ? How often is the car driven ? Will it be raced, if so what type of racing ? What kind of budget to you have? Answer a few of those questions and then you can probably get a better idea which way you want to go.
Personally I would skip the fuel rail, thottle body, and pullies unless you are going to go serious all motor. I would personally not get pullies either way. Are you looking to go all motor or just maximize power with bolt-ons? Also use the search function and you will find answers to many of your questions.
This is going to be my every day driver. I dont want to race it, I am just trying to get all of the power I can out of the current motor without tearing it apart. I am tearing apart my 67 Mustangs engine and that is enough for me. I want to be able to add a part or two on the weekend to add performance. There is alot of stuff out there to buy, right now and I have about $2,000 to blow, not counting any money I get from my paychecks. Pretty much, I want as much easy power as I can get, without replacing any internals, minus the cam. Thanks for all of the posts.
wow.. $2000 to just spend.. ****.. okay.. if you want pulleys get Unorthodox Racing pulleys.. get a cat back exhaust (APEXi World Sport) since thats your daily driver the exhaust is very quiet but good.. get intake manifold from blacktrax, randomtech highflow cat, that's it.. i guess get Hondata or VAFC..
The only other thing I was wondering, was should I get a newer throttle body. And then what kind of cam should I get? And I was also thinking about some AEM or Greddy cam gears. And what should I get for fuel. Like a fuel pump, and rails or injectors. Then that will be about it. Ill post some pics and dyno before I do this stuff. THanks alot.

the best way to spen $2000 on that engine is as follows:
sell the dc headers for lets say $150
now you have $2150:
rocket motorsports h22x cams/rm valvetrain - $1000
$850 rmf header
crome or uberdata for free
socketed p28 ecu - $150
$150 tuning
i believe that would be the best bang for the buck...
i thought about saying to go with a euro-r intake manifold and a 70mm throttle body, but thats another $400, but if you can get it before you tune
as far as i can see that is your best bang for the buck

Cool, just a few last questions. Do I have to socket and program the ecu myself, or should I find a local shop that would do it. Where would I find the RMF Headers, and do they make that big of a difference. And last, what kind of power gains do you think all of this would have. Thanks.
yeah right, with those cams youre gonna hope for 210-215....
if you got the intake manifold and tb i would shoot for 220
you can socket yourself if your good with a soldiering iron
check out pgmfi.org for that info

so just doing the valve train kit should get me up to 210 or so whp? After I do all of this, if I get a V-AFC, are there already set ups on the internet that I can copy, or sould I just take it and have someone tune it on a dyno?
