white smoking out of the exhaust! help please!
hellllpppp! i garaged my prelude for about 10 months, and couldnt start it that many times because it is quite some distance from where i live. the car was in immaculate condition before i garaged it. not to say it isnt now, but when i started it the other day white smoke came out of the exhaust. i let it warm and i think it went away but when i tapped the gas in neutral some white smoke appeared again. any ideas of what my problem is. i already know i should have started it more often, but timing and so forth has made it difficult. any ideas will help, thanks
your gas probably went bad. if gasoline sits still for a long time it goes bad, thats why when people store their cars for the winter they add feul protector. these little bottles keep gas in good condition for a long time, and they can be purchased at most parts stores, and even some gas stations. all you need to do is drive the car until you empty the tank, and then just fill up with new gas. although i have heard that if you add new gas to the old gas, it will "cure the old gas, but i'm not sure on that one.
i doubt its anything to worry about its prolly just condensation building up in the block and exhaust system change the oil in and it like the other guy said put som new gas in it and i bet itll quit.

Yep. My Civic Si did the same thing when I stored it for the winter. An oil change and fresh gas took care of the problem.

could be a blown headgasket. You could have coolant getting into your cylinders.....if that happens you will **** white smoke.........
quick way to test - pull all of your spark plugs when the car is cold.
If all of them are dirty, and one is clean - the clean one represents that coolant is in the cylinder.
When coolant is "ignited" it turns into steam - which cleans the spark plug. Kinda like steam cleaning an engine........
Hope that helps. Good luck.
Oh, and its always a possibility. Many people think that if you have a blown head gasket - you'll just have coolant and oil mixed - thats false. There are millions of ways to break a headgasket. There are coolant passages, oil passages, and cylinder holes in a headgasket. A crack or break in any could cause a different combination of things happening.
but i don't see it being anything terrible. Just change the gas like posted above.
