94 Accord start problems... with a twist
First off. You guys need to be commended for a great site. I've been lurking for awhile enjoying all the great info and advice you guys have posted on this site. Great JOB
I've learned alot, and now I have a question.
I've searched and found that the main relay is probably the cause of my starting problems but there's a twist and I was wondering if there is a reason for it or I may have an entirely different problem.
I have no trouble starting the car after sitting for a period of 10->20mins. But if I try to start the car immediately after shutting it off ( after driving a while ) the car feels like it starts and then dies off. I try to start it again, and it starts, but dies off. I can do this 3 or 4 times, and sometimes it lets out a little pop ( like a backfire ). But if I start the car with my car starter, it will start everytime even after trying to start the car after shutting the car off and after the failed attempts of starting the car with the key. I hope this makes sense.
Thanks for the help

Fuel or spark, that's the question here.
The condition I believe you're dealing with here may be related to a condition known as "Heat Soak", the phenomonon whereas the engune block gives up the heat it's stored (Like a heat sink) after it's shut off and the under-hood tempuratures rise above overheating.
What we have to determine is; What is it effecting?
The Ignition (thermal intermittant condition) (ignitor, coil) Insufficient spark to fire fuel charge.
The Fuel delivery system (Heat soak) (fuel is boiling off in the fuel rail) - starts rich initially, leans from no pressure (pops) and then starts once fuel rail re-pressurizes.
You're going to have to try to put your finger on which system is being effected.
Have a 5th spark plug in your pocket, and if you can duplicate the condition, prior to starting, pull a plug wire; insert the 5th plug and rest it across the valve cover. Crank over the engine. You should have a quite obvious blue-white spark across the electrodes. If you do, we start looking at the fuel delivery system; if not - we start looking at coil / ignitor issues.

Holy smokes I didn't think it would be this bad. Okay any harm in me still driving the car? Am I doing damage driving this ar in it's condition?
There is nothing performance wise or drivability that would have caused me to think this was a big problem.
Also why can I start the car with the car starter everytime?
Thanks for the super heads up.

No, It's not time yet to get all Bug-**** about this. Just be aware that it won't fix itself (most times), and it will eventually require some attention. It may turn out to be something very stupid and insignificant, but your symptoms elicited the answers I gave.
