Default Q on fuse size for rear battery conv.

i'm currently in the process of converting my battery to the rear hatch in my EF9.
i have everything i need to do the conversion and its two thirds of the way done, but i dont know what size inline fuse or breaker i need to use for this setup. i'm not running any aftermarket audio or anything like that. the only powered accessory i have is a vafc unit. also the AC equipment and power steering has been removed as well (dont know if it has an effect on voltage). i'm sure someone here has done this and knows what i need to use. i tried the search option, but the info i was lookin for was very vague. i've got a 100 amp fuseblock now but i dont know if its enough, and the only other thing i can find for cheap is a 175 amp fuse. i can get just about any amp rating i need at the audio shop but i dont wanna have to pay 15.00 for a fuse unless i have to........any ideas fellas?

you need a bigger fuse than that
your starter probably pulls around 100-140Amps
they make machines to test starter draw
and yes you should have a fuse,
if the positive battery cable insulation wears down on your firewall for example
it's like touching the pos and neg termals with a wrench
Instant welder

it seems to me that there is no way a 60a fuse would hold up but i don't see why the guy would put that online if it didn't work...

you need a fuse (or breaker) on the positive wire, within a foot of the battery.

shorting along the line before the main fuse will start a fire.

here is a diagram i made when i did mine. 100a is what you want.

Pic's not working Greg. He's right, you need a 100 Amp. I just did the battery in a friend's car last week and he got a distribution block with 60 amp fuses, he blew 2 of them and then decided to put a piece of metal across the block for the starter power. Not safe, I wouldn't do it, but he needed the car to go get the right fuses.

You definately need a fuse withing 12 inches of your postive battery terminal. I'm currently using a 100 amp ANL fuse within 6 inches of the battery terminal. You can find them at pretty much any car stereo store.

Plus they increase your bling factor like 800%.

Here is a link to the one I am currently using. You can find them for much less though.

i'm at work and i can see it. anyone else not see it?

on the fuse, trust me here and get a breaker if you work on things where you need to disconnect power a lot or you store your car for more then a week at a time. the breaker makes a nice switch so you dont have to monkey around with stuff. and you dont need to buy expensive anl fuses any more.
