heat shield rattle
i seem to have a fair bit of heat shield rattle due to exhaust resonance around the rearward heat shields.
i was wondering if it is safe to remove them.
is there another way to stop the rattle?
the pipe seems to be quite hot there, i'm worried that if i remove it the heat might damage something.
TIA.
peace out.

I removed all of my heat shields when I bought my car new cause the one under the shifter started rattling. That was 3.5 years ago and about 1.5 years ago I removed carpeting and sound deadening only problem so far is more heat in the interior but that's it, no damage done.

I just took off my front manifold heat shield to re-paint it black, and I noticed that if I push on the edge of the rear heat shield and release it, it makes a sound not unlike what I hear at 3500rpm. Now if that's the culprit I would be happy because that means I don't have to buy a header just to fix the noise (although I still may buy one). Now I just got to get around to pulling the manifold off the car so I can get that thing off.
