L3-1565707 is useless...no one has deciphered the #s meaning that I'm aware of.
Playing by US and Japanese specs, only the '88 had 21 splines, both the dohc and sohc varieties. I don't see why the euro would be any different. So what year is the car?

This might not work, or be exact, because of euro differences, but on the outside of tranny case, just above the fill hole, is a round stamp with some numbers/letters. All these do is specify bearing sizes. The Si usually had larger bearings and this is reflected by a code of PL3/3000. If it's PL3/A100, the tranny has smaller bearings and is probably a DX, HF, EX model. I say "usually" and "probably" because there are some small bearing Si transmissions floating around. If the round stamp is blank, it's an '88 transmission and you're SOL using this method to ID the gearset. But you could make an educated guess to whether or not its an '88.

Good info here, might help you if you need it. Also, when searching I don't recall being able to find clutch kits for anything under 1990. 90-00 are identical, but nothing I saw was for an 89 or 88. I ended up buying a 90 clutch kit and swapping over to a 95 flywheel.

Again...the only way to determine what year the transmission is while its in the car:

On the outside of tranny case, just above the fill hole, is a round stamp with some numbers/letters. that specifies bearing sizes. Usually something like PL3/3000 PL3/A100 or PL3/9000. If this round stamp is blank, it's an '88 transmission.
