Default buying a bike out of the country, hard to register in US?

I might be purchasing a bike from austrailia. Is there going to be a major issue trying to register it in the states? I know with cars from japan its VERY difficult and or impossible because the jap cars dont meet US's crash/safety standards... I hope bikes are different. anyone have any insight on this?? thanks to all that help!

are you wiring the money to the seller? Or is he giving you $20k and you have to give him his change through another wire??
If it is legit, I'm pretty sure it's cheaper to buy the bike in the states rather than pay the fees to ship and register it here in the US.

Most of those deals done out of the country is just another scam, I think. Just another way your *** gets in alot of mess. You might as well look for a bike located here in the US.
