Default what would you choose? a '99 honda prelude or '98 acura integra type r

compare these two and let me know what you think.

1999 honda prelude
40k
pearl white
sportshift (automatic)
salvage due to flood (i have the carfax)
optional lip kit front and rear
everything is stock and in perfect condition

ORRRRR

1998 acura integra type r
100k
championship white
b18c5 motor
4 lug
gsr leather interior
salvage title due to theft (apparently, hahah)

so basically, the type r is missing the interior and 5 lug... which would you choose?

And it's not going to be biased once you put it in the Prelude forum?

Seriously....decide for yourself.... They are totally different cars to begin with and especially with an autotragic transmission on the Prelude....

that's like so.....*yawwwn....*

i meant that i shouldn't have put it in here because of biased answers... but then again, i'm just seeing if it's worth converting everything back to type r status.

cuz i'm looking at:
$900 itr front and rear seats
$200 itr door panels
$150 itr gauge cluster (usdm)
$1500 5 lug and wheels

wait and find a clean R

i never buy salvage titles or autos so if it was me i wouldn't get either. does the R have the jdm 96 spec 4 lug or whatever or like ls/gsr 4 lug? (4x114.3 or 4x100)

If you want a drivers car, have a garage, don't park at school, don't park at malls, don't park at movie theaters, the ITR is the perfect car for you.

If one of the above doesn't suit your needs, the Prelude is a better fit.

Either way, get a car with a clean title. Not that a car should be considered an investment, but your resale will be much higher with a clean titled car, not to mention that there could be some serious issues with how the car was put back together.

you're right. however in the past, i was very very paranoid with my car getting stolen, so i took many precautions to make sure it wouldn't get stolen. it's just a timely thing for me to do, but i'm sure it wont get stolen.

as for putting the car together, what if the motor was assembled professionally by a local and reputable shop... do you think that helps?

i'm inclined to make the trade because the 5 lug wont be hard to do, and the motor is being built professionally, so no worries for 1 yr at least (warranty w/ shop)

What are the prices on both of them? The R wouldn't be to hard to fix and LEGIT parts come up for sale all the time.

Take the time and consider this, if your going to daily drive the car.....are you willing to take the risk of it getting stolen. It happens all the time, even to the layered security ones. I personally don't like automagic cars. A friend of mine used to have a prelude with that triptronic shifter. I thought it was a bunch of garbage, the shifts are slow. These though are personal opinions. I do like the body style of the preludes though. Maybe if it was an SH 5-speed I would think differently. Either way, go drive both and make a decision from there.

ITR>Prelude, everything else

If you love the Type R and have the means to own and keep one there is no car that can replace it.

The Prelude SS tranny sucks & is notorious for having problems.

The ITR will be cheaper in the long run since the depreciation rate is so low.
Also, the performace is on a different scale with the ITR.

How much are you looking to spend? I'm getting ready to sell mine

How about timing belt, water pump, and clutch? Have they been replaced in the ITR yet? If so, that makes it 3k cheaper because the lude will need them in 2 years.

Id pass on both. Salvage title cars can be a headache unless you are building at race car or something and the auto Prelude is junk. Dont get me wrong, I love the BB6 but Sportshift =

well, how much are they asking for that ITR with the salvaged title?? could be worth it if the price is right. just make sure those are the only items missing though, sounds kind of shady

I use to have a salvag. prelude, take it from me if you want a real race car go with the type r, I just got mind since owning a prelude, the difference is............. like a world to another world, not just night and day! The R lives up to its rep. the best FRONT WHEEL HANDLEING car in the world!

If you can find a clean title Type R go for it, having a salvag. anything is bad! trust me! I know

With the lude!

Now without! I'm much happier, but more poorer! LOL (Insurance, parts, and the scare of it being stolen or broken into)

Chuck Norris drives an R! LOL

I would honestly go with the R. But you have to consider alot of things of course. Don't forget about insurance. That alone could be the deciding factor.
