painting steelies/donuts?
i did mine, if the black on them is flaking off at all just use some Aircraft striper and get rid of most of it, spray em down good with some water, get all the stripper outa the crevis's ect
if the factory black coating is still intack clean it up realy good, and scuff it with some scotch brite, steel wool, or some 180-400sand paper
Clean everything good with some paint prep, or alcohol
primer them good, let it dry 5-10 between coats, then if your masking anything off let it dry a couple extra mins to be safe, tape off whatever your gona do, spray your paint, again let it dry 5-10mins between coats, then finaly spray some clear over the whole thing, if you want them to be realy shinny spray 3-4 coats of clear let them dry 5-6 hrs and go back over them with some 2000grit sandpaper and some rubbing/buffing compound, if if you dont wana sand just buff them with the compound and they will be shinny just not mirror flat

Indeed. I bought some fucked up ones, aircraft stripped them, sanded some some shitty areas.

Why not? People used to polish steelies all the time on hot rods and such. Widened steelies are a trend among VW owners, and some of them polish steelies.
