92 slush box problem help!
my 92 accord has a auto tranny problem.
When I turn the car on, the D4 light stays on. At this state, the car is stuck in third gear. I can start first from D1, but skips to third even when moved to D2. During this, the D4 light stays on bright at all times.
However, the D4 light sometimes goes off, and everything comes normal. Then, while driving, the light would come back on, force it to third, then go off again back to normal. All at random intervals.
I tried to jump the service connector, but the check engine light stays solid.
Its driving me crazy. Can anyone help?
Thanks

shift circuit failure? my guess based upon what you said and without having the codes is that you have a problem with the ECU being able to shift into 4th gear.
problem still persists. Seems thought, that if I drive the car for 15-20 when everything is all warmed up, the problem is less likely to happen.
Read the manual, and checked the voltage of the ground on TCU to body ground. it was like -699. It said that if there is voltage, then the TCU is still goog and the shift position indicator on the gauge cluster might be the problem.
Any electronic whiz around?

If the TCU will not give you a code, the TCU is probably the problem (it can't tell on itself). P Adams I believe has said something about the capacitors leaking inside the TCU. Maybe you can open it up, and check it out.
