Default ot-whats a good sound replacement for my itr oem cd deck..??

i haven't seen any recent posts about what is current in stereo products, but i'm hoping fellow r owners would have more specific suggestions regarding a good replacement than if i posted in the stereo section. basically, i'm hoping to have some extra pesos in a month or two, and i'd like to upgrade to a deck that not only sounds and performs well, but one that *matches* or blends in with the itr interior nicely...ie. amber illumination and faceplate. any advice, or even pics would be great! right now, i like pioneer decks 'cause they've never given me hassles, but i'm open to suggestions...some faceplates really look ricey but i prefer the cleaner look. thanks guys

This is the best OEM deck replacement for your R:

It *matches* the ITR interior nicely, performs well, and has that clean look you want...

oh and have a on me...

Phuk the radio and CD, I run with it off most of the time anyways. The natural sound eminating from the R is more than enough for me.

right, but since it's JDM, it costs as much as a crappy deck...

I have an Alpine...I forget what it's called, but it has amber instrumentation that perfectly matches the R's displays.

Please explain how a JDM radio blocker ($25) is more expensive than an aftermarket cd deck. Obviously you wouldn't bother replacing the OEM deck with an inferior one, so we are talking a couple hundred dollars here... I think your anti-JDM attitude occasionally clouds your judgement Ross.

what's that?
It is a cover plate that blocks the empty hole in your center console when you remove the CD deck and storage tray.

JDM 4 LyfE! Anyways, I would probably get that block off plate if my car were a track car but I'd like to listen to tunes once in awhile when the cruise gets long.

i must admit guys..that the block off plate looks clean and speaks of nothing but a performance driven owner..but my gal is a music major and plays the violin, so sometimes its nice to hit 8400 rpm with beethoven's symphony no. 5 in c minor!!

I also listen to classical on the FM when taking a ride to work from time to time but, I feel that Tool is more appropriate.

I got a speedin ticket while listening to some Beethoven once.

Bob - I know it's not that much $$...I have seen it going for more than that though.

I don't really have an anti-JDM attitude...I am getting the JDM 4-1 after all. It's just the pointless mods I dont really care for, like when people get the JDM radio (which doesnt even pick up our radio stations) just cause its JDM.

We all know girls are more important than cars...

...I just hope the next girl I meet isn't a music major like yours because then I will be in the market for a CD player, speakers, and tweeters!

I'd recommend a Nakamichi head unit for its OEM look, amber allumination and awesome sound quality. Another good line to look at would be the Kenwood excelon line. Great CD players for the price, all excelon models come with built in System E's (crossover & EQ) and also have an amber illumination.

If the Pesos allow, I'd grab a nak if I were you.

I totally agree with you about the pointless mods...some people get way out of hand. But I think the radio blocker is one of the useful JDM parts! (others include the clock blocker, rear upper control arms, rear sway bar, and header to name a few)

I my JVC KD-SH99 because it plays mp3's right off of CD's. You can go through the whole day without having to listen to the same song more than once. Pure bliss. Also a great value at $270 from etronics.com. The clarity and power are a huge step up from the stock player. Basically just a very fun little unit that works well and allows you to make 12 hr long compilations so you never have to take your eyes or car off the road every 74 minutes.

Alpine CDA-7878 MP3 Deck.. I LOVE IT! only thing I don't like, is the fact that the buttons don't have the option of changing to amber.
