Default Can this MSD 6a be used on a 4 cyl?

I just looked up the specs of a 6a box i recently traded for and noticed there were two 6a boxes, seriel #'s 6200 and 6246. It says the 6200 box is for 8 cyls and the 6246 is for 4 and 6 cyls. So is there no way to run the 6200 on a 4 cyl? I didn't know there were two different ones
